Region G has a rich history of great mule deer hunting. While deer numbers are not what they were in the 90’s, it is still arguably one of the best destinations for trophy mule deer hunting in the West. This is a preference point tag if you are a nonresident. However, there is always a chance to draw. You will not draw if you don’t put in. These hunts take place anywhere from 7500 to 9000 ft in elevation. Our pre-season scouting helps narrow down the search once the season arrives but be prepared for hours of glassing. This is a physically demanding hunt, so you will want to be prepared.
Our preferred method of hunting is spot and stalk. Weather plays a big part in this hunt as with others, so pinning down the best time is tough to do. Horse back rides in the dark to navigate mountain trails to get us to where we are wanting to be at daylight are both rewarding and a sense of accomplishment for hunters. Often hunters measure this hunt in the “journey” being the reward and the “destination” being the bonus. If region G is on your list, or the time is right to use your preference points, give us a call and we can discuss if this hunt is right for you. This is a 5 day hunt but additional days of hunting can be purchased in advance.
